 OVERDRIVE SPARES - THE OVERDRIVE SPECIALISTS Overdrive Spares was founded in 1986 by Ernie Garbutt, Ex-Laycock Senior International Service Engineer. Ernie had already notched up 35 years of experience in dealing with all Laycock De-Normanville overdrive units plus a wealth of experience gained whilst liaising with car manufacturers competition departments, where he travelled worldwide servicing rally car overdrives. This, coupled with the fact that when Laycocks finally went into liquidation, Ernie was able to buy all of the company's obsolete stock ensuring that most of the parts supplied nowadays are still the original Laycock parts!
 Within three years of starting the business, the company employed six family members plus additional staff. In 1996, the company relocated to larger premises on the same business park in order to house its vast stock. Sadly, Ernie died in early 2007 but his wife, Stella, is still very much involved in the business with son-in-law David Twigger at the helm and Ernie and Stella's daughter Anita, running the office. Recently, David and Anita's son Josh, has joined the company and is currently David's apprentice. A true family business!
